Reviews

Library Media Connection - Marion B. Mueller, Library Media Consultant, Rawhide Starr Academy, New London,

"Each book covers an ancient civilization that is often included in the upper elementary or middle school social studies curriculum. Pages are highlighted with drawings and photographs of artifacts as well as maps illustrating the extent of each civilization. An occasional fact box is added. The weakest chapters are those that name assorted emperors and rulers in textbook fashion with little interesting information. The strongest chapters cover major achievements and lasting influence of the civilization. Also successfully presented is information about the early beginnings of each civilization. The books are useful to the third grader who wants to read about an ancient civilization, to the struggling eighth grade reader doing research. Recommended." - Library Media Connection
