The second book of this award-winning graphic novel series. Ten-year-old Portia Bennett and her friend Jason continue their journey through the city of Toronto. They're one step closer to finding the home of their lost friend, a sweet, silent creature named Jellaby. Unfortunately, dangers await, including a tentacled monster with a taste for children. To succeed in her quest—and save her friends—Portia must step up and kick some monster butt.
"This concluding volume of Soo’s award-winning children’s comic is just as heartening as the first, with whip-smart kids and a cute creature whose giant eyes and sleeve-tugging innocence make him instantly lovable. The uncluttered panels in a limited palette clearly tell the story at hand, and Soo’s expert use of facial expressions adds a meaningful emotional component. This newly available library edition, a reprint of the 2009 original, would be a great addition to any kids comics collection." - Booklist

"Soo has created engaging characters that feel like you could step out your door and run into in your neighborhood. Even the bullies that Portia encounters aren’t crude half portrayed characters; they have depth to them. Overall, the writing reminds me a bit of Hayao Miyazaki, mostly because of the fully-realized characters. While the artwork appears simple in nature, with thick lines delineating the characters and a few colors giving them depth, they are stunningly beautiful. Drawing a lovable purple monster that doesn’t look like Barney is difficult, but Soo pulls it off." - No Flying, No Tights

Born in England and raised in Hong Kong, Kean Soo settled in Canada, where he planned to embark on a career in electrical engineering. However, he discovered that he'd rather draw comics instead. Kean began posting his comics on the internet in 2002, and later became an assistant editor and regular contributor to the all-ages FLiGHT anthologies. His online work has been nominated for several awards, including an Eisner Award nomination for Jellaby. Kean likes carrots, but not nearly as much as he likes tuna sandwiches, usually with lots and lots of wasabi mayonnaise.
