Show readers the role of migration in the life cycle of an Emperor penguin by letting them waddle alongside! When Penguins Cross the Ice focuses on the migration journey of one specific penguin, pulling readers into the heart of Antarctica with a story-like narrative and realistic, text-match illustrations. Includes a "fast facts" page and glossary.
"Acrylic illustrations by Tom Leonard bring the emperor penguin to life on each page. Swimming in the water and marching across the ice are beautifully drawn. A map of the emperor penguin’s migration gives the reader a frame of reference for the amazing journey. Fast facts, a glossary, critical thinking questions, and additional resources are available at the conclusion of the text, providing extensions." - NSTA Recommends
