Tiny, long toothed arctic squirrels roamed the earth during the ice age. Awesome illustrations accompany carefully leveled text about food, habitat, behavior, and extinction, bringing sabertooth squirrels to life like never before.
"STARRED REVIEW! These titles covering Ice Age animals create a great beginner series. The illustrations are beautifully done and draw readers into the narrative. . . .The series is exceptionally well thought out and well-executed. These books will not stay on the shelf long!" - School Library Connection

Since she was little, Jeni Wittrock has loved reading, writing, and animals. In 2005, after earning her MFA in creative writing, Jeni began writing and editing children’s books for Capstone Press. Her interests include natural history, biology, science, and pet care, so it’s no wonder that she often writes books about those topics. Jeni shares her Minneapolis home with her beloved furry family members—cats, rabbits, tarantulas, and many other misfit pets. In her spare time, she volunteers for a local rabbit rescue and adoption agency.
