Awesome!

Marvin the moose and Woody the beaver are BFFs. But their friendship is tested when Marvin does something totally AWESOME and Woody remains ordinary. The other forest animals now adore Marvin - calling in his new superhero services to help right wrongs, solve problems, and fix trouble. They even build a statue in his honor! Woody watches with envy, hatching a not-so-awesome plan to put all eyes on him. Can Woody and Marvin save their friendship? Craig Shuttlewood explores friendship, jealousy, and forgiveness in this relatable picture book about finding the awesome inside each of us.

Reviews

Booklist Online - Connie Fletcher

"...will have young readers in stitches. The illustrations, combining paint, drawings, and ingenious scribbles, make the action pop. Shuttlewood wisely uses silly antics to couch a relevant lesson in how a friend’s change in status can spark hard-to-deal-with feelings but be positively addressed." - Booklist Online

PSLA Teaching and Learning - Literature Review - Denise Medwick, West Allegheny, SD

"...the author has created a story that explores the emotions of jealousy and feeling left out. . . .Children will be drawn to this story of two friends. A great read aloud, this book will lead to a discussion about how to deal with such feelings in a more positive way." - PSLA Teaching and Learning - Literature Review

School Library Journal - Sally James, South Hillsborough Elementary School, Hillsborough, CA

"Young children will enjoy Woody’s silly, misguided, and loyal actions. The illustrations are amusing as well as a bit slapstick—a moose standing on two legs with a red cape and red eye mask would make just about anybody smile—and capture the ups and downs of the two friends. An enjoyable story showing the pitfalls of being famous as well as the joys of having a true friend." - School Library Journal
