Shhh! What's that sound? Little bunny ears perk up and turn to listen all around. What's it like for bunnies to grow up?

"This series, written for the beginning reader and illustrated with clear, intriguing photographs, relates the development of young animals through a story rather than a listing of facts. The stories tell how babies feed, groom, play, and eventually leave their parents. The students I shared the stories with loved the photos and were engaged with the stories. Onomatopoetic words like ‘splash’ and ‘blink’ add to the liveliness. The text includes some ‘big’ words, but they are simply and effectively explained in the glossary. The publisher’s FactHound portal is included, which guides the reader to good quality and age-appropriate websites. Recommended." - Library Media Connection Online

Since she was little, Jeni Wittrock has loved reading, writing, and animals. In 2005, after earning her MFA in creative writing, Jeni began writing and editing children’s books for Capstone Press. Her interests include natural history, biology, science, and pet care, so it’s no wonder that she often writes books about those topics. Jeni shares her Minneapolis home with her beloved furry family members—cats, rabbits, tarantulas, and many other misfit pets. In her spare time, she volunteers for a local rabbit rescue and adoption agency.
