Children's Literature Comprehensive Database - Kris Sauer

"Betty and Baxter battle over batter. Is it any wonder their house is a mess? After a bitter battle with batter bombs exploding throughout the kitchen, the two batters end up blended. In the end, both kids win as a delightfully new pancake concoction is discovered. Early readers will enjoy the colorful illustrations and the tongue twisters throughout this publication. Teachers and parents will appreciate the prolific use of alliteration and the simple text that will help build a young reader’s confidence and skill. Part of the “Read It! Readers” series, this is one of six titles that focus on the use of tongue twisters to help students decode text and build their level of reading proficiency. Developed in consultation with a reading specialist, the series features books at six different reading levels. This one, at the “Green Level,” is intended to present more complex ideas, an extended vocabulary range and expanded language structures." - Children's Literature Comprehensive Database
