Library Media Connection - Beverly Combs, Librarian

"This is a perfect series to use with young children when teaching weather units. The large books feature one or two simply written sentences on one side of the page with a full page photograph opposite. While the facts are few and basic, the interest that these books will elicit will be great! A glossary will help equip the students with ways to describe what they see. The word count, according to the back page, will give the teacher an idea about the advisability of using these books as early readers. Early elementary students who disdain the picture book for the “made-up” story will love these “real” stories. The large photographs will give the children images to complement the information. Each book also gives the child hints on how to be safe if they should encounter the weather phenomena they see. Bibliography. Websites. Index. Recommended." - Library Media Connection
