Children's Literature

"Intended for beginning readers, this slim volume of 245 words (word count is appended) offers only the most basic of information. Simple, direct sentences inform readers that the "middle of the planet is hot...close to the poles it is always cold," and that nature and animals help in weather prediction if you know what to look for. There are directions for making a rain gauge and a weather chart (standard fare in most classrooms). Colorful photos, large typeface and eye-catching red and blue borders make this an attractive book. It comes with an $18.00 price tag, which seems a lot for so little. A glossary and index are appended. It is part of the "Spyglass Books" series." - Children's Literature
