Africa's wild animals are awesome! Bold, vibrant photos and engaging text bring readers up close with lions. Includes information on habitat, behavior, life cycle, and threats to these amazing creatures.
"The pictures are large close-ups of the animals in different situations; brightly-colored pages will attract the reader’s attention." - School Library Connection

"Another way to use the Awesome African Animal series is to find ecological equivalents; animals with the same ecological role or ‘job’ in different parts of the world. The Lions are Awesome! book hints only at this when it discusses adult lions, but only mentions the young cubs in passing. Being able to compare and contrast these two types of ages in regard to size, color, habits and more is an excellent way to increase vocabulary, instill observation skills, and reinforce additional science process skills. Of course, using each book as a stand–alone or as a ‘student choice for reading’ works too. These are only a few ways this series can be used with students. Get to know these Awesome African Animals and use them in your classroom!" - NSTA Recommends
