School Library Journal

"These titles contain well-chosen details that go beyond what might be found in encyclopedia entries or typical country books. For example, the first book includes Canadian comedians and currency (loonie); New Zealand offers an alternate name for the country–Godzone, short for “God’s Own Country.” The factual approach in the writing makes it user-friendly for young researchers. A synopsis of important facts is appended. The digitally prepared illustrations, although colorful and bright, are too primitive and “sketchy” for books of this nature, and provide little information. Child appeal is limited, although the many unique facts will make these titles useful tools for independent research projects." - School Library Journal

The Midwest Book Review- Bookwatch - Vicki Arkoff

"New Zealand is home to thousands of plants and creatures that can't be found anywhere else in the world. This introductory geography and culture book gives beginning readers an ABC tour of New Zealand, and shows what makes the island country unique. "New Zealand ABCs" is one of the latest library/institution books from non-fiction publisher Picture Book Windows, as part of its "Country ABCs series. Other new titles cover Canada, China, Israel, Russia and the United States. Each used full-color illustrations, locator maps, language charts and traceable maps and flags to visually accompany simple text. Geared for ages five through 11; kindergarten through fifth grades." - The Midwest Book Review- Bookwatch
