Pop art burst onto the scene in the mid-20th century, filling the gray post-World War II years with life, color, and fun! Pop artists from Andy Warhol to David Hockney strived to make art accessible for everyone, celebrating the popular symbols from the modern age--from cars to hamburgers--in their work. In the process they changes the face of art forever.
"A good art history or theory book for kids can be tough to find, but Brooks...is particularly adept at introducing such topics in an engaging, thought-provoking way. . . .Each thematic spread addresses a technique, theme, or artist, and succinct paragraphs offer not only helpful background information but often thoughtful questions to engage readers in critical thinking. Each page boasts an impressive number of excellent reproductions of works, and the text refers directly to those artworks to offer even more context. . . .solid introduction to an appealing art style." - Booklist

Susie Brooks is an award-winning writer and editor of children's books. Writing on a wide range of subjects from dinosaurs to geography, she also masquerades as an artist (among other things, painting children’s portraits and getting messy in classroom workshops!). In 2014, her Get into Art series won the English Association Picture Book Award, British Book Design and Production Award, and the overall SLA Information Book Award. She can regularly be found walking people’s dogs and in her spare time, loves to travel and explore new places!
