Winter has been rough for Belle Song and her family. Food is running low, and her mother is expecting a new baby. To restock food and medical supplies, Belle's father decides to take everyone to Tharsis City, the capital of Mars. Belle can't wait to see the amazing wonders and marvels that Tharsis City has to offer. But unforeseen dangers lurk in the city streets. Will Belle and her Nabian friend, Ta'al, be able to overcome the troubles they face at the Wonder of Mars? This Redworld sci-fi tale will capture readers' imaginations and keep them turning the page to follow Belle's newest adventure on the red planet.
"These easy-to-read novels contain both scientific facts about Mars—its climate, calendar, etc.—and science-fictional possibilities, such as programmable house windows and personal androids. . . .Middle school students will identify with the conflicts in Belle’s journal entries and relish the harrowing adventures in each book. A glossary, a list of Mars terms, and discussion questions encourage classroom use, and the theme of understanding between diverse cultures is both timely and relevant." - VOYA

"Readers will be drawn in to Belle’s adventures as they follow along with her and will want to keep reading to the end. Each book has several full-page illustrations depicting scenes and characters in the story, and each begins with an illustrated summary of the characters—human, android, and alien—and a map to help readers picture the lay of the land." - School Library Connection

A.L. Collins learned a lot about writing from her teachers at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. She has always loved reading science fiction stories about other worlds and strange aliens. She enjoys creating and writing about new worlds, as well as envisioning what the future might look like. Since writing Redworld, she has collected a map of Mars that hangs in her living room and a rotating model of the red planet, which sits on her desk. When not writing, Collins enjoys spending her spare time reading and playing board games with her family. She lives near Seattle, Washington with her husband and five dogs.
