Vikings: Scandinavia's Ferocious Sea Raiders

by Nel Yomtov
Illustrated by Silvio dB

When one thinks about the Vikings, usually images of savage fighters arriving in longships to raid villages come to mind. But the Vikings weren't just violent invaders trying to steal treasure. These Norse warriors were also master sailors and explorers looking for new lands to farm and colonize. Dynamic illustrations and entertaining tales of famous Viking warriors teach readers about the lives and goals of these fierce Scandinavian raiders.

"Educational text appears in small boxes within individual panels and is supported by thought bubbles and speech balloons that express the characters’ ideas. . . .Back matter adds helpful details about both geography and the time span—sometimes surprisingly brief—in which each kind of fighter was active. These books will draw visual learners and history buffs into a high-interest aspect of medieval Japan and Europe. . . .these books present an exciting window into history." - Booklist
