Science Books & Films - Pamela J Galus

"TWO STARS! The Worst Volcanic Eruptions of All Time by Suzanne Garbe begins with an explanation of some related terms and basic types of volcanoes before providing information about specific, historical volcanic events. The brief stories are about 2 pages each providing a good amount of information. Excellent visuals and colorful pages enhance the quality information provided in this sturdy 32 page book. At the end, suggestions for preparedness are provided for individuals who live near volcanoes along with information on the USGS, followed by a glossary and sources for additional information." - Science Books & Films

Library Media Connection - Nick Petrosino, School Librarian, Ridgeview Junior High, Pickerington, Ohio

"This is an appealing nonfiction series covering the earth’s natural disasters. Each describes how the disaster is ranked, categorized or recognized. The main content of the books is a focus on disasters of epic proportion. The vignettes feature photos or images depicting the event along with date, location and ranking, magnitude, or type of disaster. Each title also features a “Living with....” section providing advice, tips, and information pertaining to the realities of experiencing or being prepared for each disaster. The eye-catching photos and colorful pages provide additional appeal to an already interesting topic. Recommended." - Library Media Connection
